In these workshops, you will explore, observe, and paint the extraordinary plant life, scenery, trees, waterways, light and shade of the Longhouse gardens. Learn and practice the principals of landscape and nature painting: composition, creating distance, skies, trees, water, mixing the colors of nature, and how to compose a beautiful landscape painting. Four sessions will allow for lots of painting exploration: flowers, trees, reflection, weather, light. Sign up for one or both workshops. Appropriate for beginner to experienced students. Bring your own materials. A list will be provided.

About Barbara Thomas
Barbara attended The Art Students League and Pratt Institute in New York, and received her MFA degree from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University, Boston, Massachusetts. Her work explores the natural world and human relationship to it. Subjects include earth and sky, flora and fauna, and seasons. Working mostly in traditional media, oil paint and gouache watercolor, she renders her views of the elements of nature with detail and attention. Her work also delves into contemporary media—digital photography and video, as well as experiments in direct use of land.
